5 Days
You will set off for Tarangire National Park upon a quick morning introduction. This park is renowned for its expansive grasslands, iconic baobab trees, and marshy areas, which are home to magnificent elephant herds, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, zebras, wildebeests, as well as various types of antelopes and gazelles. Your guide will raise the roof of the vehicle for better wildlife viewing. You will have a delightful lunch at a picturesque location and then continue your exploration of the reserve in the afternoon. The day will conclude with a relaxing overnight stay at the Lake Burunge Tented Lodge just outside the park.
After breakfast, your journey kicks off towards the Rift Valley. You'll enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area by passing through Mto wa Mbu and Karatu, nestled in the crater highlands. Take a moment at a viewpoint to glimpse the crater's depths before moving on. As you circle the crater's rim, you'll descend to its far side, passing Maasai settlements on the way to the Serengeti National Park. At Naabi Hill, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the Serengeti savannah. Heading towards the Seronera area, you'll encounter diverse wildlife, including the Big Five. Your day concludes at Kati Kati Tented Camp, where you can relish an evening surrounded by the wilderness under a sky full of stars.
After breakfast, you'll embark on an extensive safari in Serengeti National Park. If you visit in October or November, you might be lucky to witness the incredible migration of wildebeests, zebras, and Thompson gazelles. Your guide will assist you in spotting these animals and ensuring you get the best views. Your day will end with another night at the Kati Kati Tented Camp. Please note that travellers between early January and mid-March will stay at the Ndutu Kati Kati Tented Camp, closer to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area boundary, increasing the chances of witnessing the migration.
Your adventure starts at dawn after breakfast, setting off from Seronera Valley in the Serengeti toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You'll witness predators in action during the stunning early morning hours. A hearty meal will be served at a specially selected picnic spot. Upon reaching the crater's rim, you'll be met with a jaw-dropping view of the 19-kilometer-wide caldera. The descent into this natural amphitheatre is an expedition in itself, as it is home to an astonishing variety of over 25,000 creatures, including the Big Five. Your day will end with an overnight stay at Tanganyika Wilderness Adventure Lodges in Karatu.
The distance is approximately 160 km, and the driving time is expected to be around 2-3 hours. After a relaxed morning meal, you will return to Arusha, arriving around midday. Flights are available from the local Arusha Airport and the Kilimanjaro International Airport for those interested in extending their adventure to include a vacation in Zanzibar. You'll have a chance to enjoy a meal midway through the journey.
